Christian Schmid is a geographer, sociologist and urban researcher. Since 1980, Schmid has been active as video activist, organizer of cultural events and urban researcher. In 1991, he was cofounder of the International Network for Urban Research and Action (INURA). 
Schmid has authored, co-authored, and co-edited numerous publications on the urban development of the Zurich region, theories of the urban and of space, on Henri Lefebvre, on territorial urban development, and on the comparative analysis of urbanization. Together with architects Roger Diener, Jacques Herzog, Marcel Meili and Pierre de Meuron he co-authored the book Switzerland: an urban portrait, a pioneering analysis of extended urbanization. He currently works together with Neil Brenner on the theorization and investigation of emergent formations of planetary urbanization, and he leads a project on the comparison of urbanization processes in Tokyo, Pearl River Delta, Kolkata, Istanbul, Lagos, Paris, Mexico City and Los Angeles, which is based at the ETH Future Cities Laboratory Singapore.


Mimi Sheller is Professor of Sociology and founding Director of the Center for Mobilities Research and Policy, Drexel University. She is author and co-editor of ten books, including forthcoming Mobility Justice: The Politics of Movement in an Age of Extremes (Verso, 2018); Aluminum Dreams: The Making of Light Modernity (MIT Press, 2014); Citizenship from Below (Duke University Press, 2012); and Consuming the Caribbean (Routledge, 2003).
As founding co-editor of the journal Mobilities and co-author with John Urry of Tourism Mobilities (2004), Mobile Technologies of the City (2006), and several key articles, she helped to establish the new interdisciplinary field of mobilities research. She was awarded the Doctor Honoris Causa from Roskilde University, Denmark (2015) and has held Visiting Fellowships at the Davis Center for Historical Studies, Princeton University (2008); Media@McGill, Canada (2009); Center for Mobility and Urban Studies at Aalborg University, Denmark (2009); and Penn Humanities Forum, University of Pennsylvania (2010). In 2016 she was inaugural Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication at the Annenberg School of Communication, University of Pennsylvania.


Dominique Gauzin-Müller 
Architecte française installée en Allemagne depuis 1986, Dominique Gauzin-Müller s’est spécialisée dès ses études sur les multiples facettes d’un aménagement durable du territoire: matériaux éco-locaux, énergie, implications sociales et culturelles. Elle collabore avec de nombreuses revues et maisons d'édition internationales, dont Edizioni Ambiente, et a publié 14 ouvrages traduits en 8 langues, dont l’italien: L’architecture écologique (2001), 25 maisons écologiques (2005), L’architecture écologique du Vorarlberg (2009), L’architecture en terre d’aujourd’hui (2017), etc. Rédactrice en chef du magazine EcologiK/EK de 2007 à 2016, elle dirige depuis la collection « Transition écologique et sociétale» aux éditions MUSEO. Elle est membre de la Compagnie des négaWatt, un groupe d’experts qui travaille à une transition énergétique pour la France.
Professeure honoraire associée de la chaire UNESCO-CRAterre et consultante du centre de recherche amàco sur les «matières à construire», Dominique Gauzin-Müller enseigne dans les écoles d’architecture de Strasbourg et de Marrakech, tout en intervenant dans d’autres universités à travers le monde. Elle a été commissaire de plusieurs expositions itinérantes: Habiter écologique (Cité de l’architecture, Paris, 2009), Matériaux éco-locaux (Congrès de l’UIA, Durban, 2014), La légèreté de l’être : Nouvelles architectures de bois en France (Linz, 2014). Elle a initié et organisé le TERRA Award, premier Prix mondial des architectures contemporaines en terre crue, et conçu l’exposition «Architecture en terre d’aujourd’hui », déjà présentée dans plus de 30 lieux sur 3 continents, dont plusieurs fois en Italie. Elle organise actuellement le FIBRA Award, premier Prix mondial des architectures contemporaines en fibres végétales.
